How to Use Your All-In-One Brassager Kit
Follow these simple steps to safely achieve a rich, authentic antique patina in just minutes!
Prerequisites & Preparation
- Safety First: Put on the protective gloves included in your kit. Work in a well-ventilated area.
- The Golden Rule: The metal must be completely clean. Your aging solution cannot penetrate oil, grease, wax, or clear factory lacquer coatings.
Step 1: Prep the Metal
- Scrub: Take a piece of the included fine steel wool and thoroughly scrub your metal item.
- Strip: Ensure any clear protective coatings are entirely removed using a solvent if necessary.
- Degrease: Wash the item with hot, soapy water or rubbing alcohol to remove fingerprints and oils. Dry completely.
Step 2: The Dipping Process
- Pour: Shake your 8oz bottle of Brassager liquid well, then pour enough solution into the included dipping container to fully submerge your item.
- Dip: Place your clean metal item into the solution.
- Time: Watch the transformation happen right before your eyes. Let it soak for 1 to 3 minutes depending on how dark you want the final finish. (Do not leave it submerged indefinitely).
Step 3: Stop the Reaction
- Remove: Take the item out of the solution using a plastic utensil or gloved hands.
- Rinse: Immediately rinse the item thoroughly under clean, running water. This instantly stops the chemical darkening process.
- Dry: Gently blot the metal dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.
